For those who have never had a mojito, you are missing out.  I have never found a cocktail that cleans the palate more completely than one of these.  My wife even said my breath is minus the "kitty litter" smell of cigar smoke....lol

4 parts rum, 2 parts lime juice, 1 tsp bar sugar (or simple syrup), 5-7 mint leaves, dash of aromatic bitters.

Combine all ingredients with ice in cocktail shaker, shake well.  strain into chilled glass and garnish with mint leaves.  This is very refreshing with a cigar.  But be careful, you can't taste the alcohol in these.

I love Mojito's!!  We've been making them for a few summers now....

My mom and sis have gotten pretty good!  They use confectioners sugar or powdered sugar.  they put the ingredients in together, Lime, Mint leaves and sugar, and smash them up to get them working together....then the rum adn 7up or Club soda is added, they usually do half and hlaf or 2/3 ratio......

Awesome drink, but you're right Capt, they will sneak up on you.  My mom is funny, she used to drink them and not really feel anything, as soon as she would stand up her legs wouldn't work!  She's learned, and we've all learned to watch out for this drink!!!

A Mojito sounds really good right now, plus I have been seeing all the bacardi commercials.  Sounds like a plan for this weekend.

Last year I attended a Torano cigar tasting in Vegas. There was an open bar, and mojitos were flowing like..err..wine. Naturally, I ordered 1 or 5. I was surprised at how incredibly well this drink paired with a nice, rich Signature Collection and Torano Exodus 1959.
